Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) Report

The FEC was charged with reviewing all reports relevant to the situation, identifying questions of gaps in knowledge that might exist and creating a plan for next steps. The subcommittee focused primarily on those matters that have not been sufficiently addressed by procedures and policies already put into place. The subcommittee considered what was necessary and feasible to investigate further in order to respond to the unanswered questions. It also made recommendations for other actions to reassure faculty and our community that we fully understand the problem and that appropriate safeguards are already or will be put in place to ensure the integrity of the academic offering to students and our academic standards going forward. The report recommended the creation of an outside panel that later resulted in the 2013 work of an expert panel led by Hunter Rawlings, president of the Association of American Universities.
