Dear Carolina Community,
I want to be the first to let you know that this Wednesday at 1 p.m., Kenneth Wainstein, a former federal prosecutor whom we retained to investigate past academic irregularities at Carolina, will publicly release his report. At that event, UNC President Tom Ross and I will share our reactions to the report, our plans for responding, and also answer questions from the media.
There will be a live webcast of Mr. Wainstein’s presentation on Wednesday. Please go tohttps://carolinacommitment.unc.edu to access this webcast. We will also post Mr. Wainstein’s report and related materials to the site.
In addition, I will convene faculty, staff and students in the hours following the release of the report on Wednesday to hear from you and provide you more insights on the report. This town hall will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. in room G100 of the Genome Sciences Building. I hope you will be able to join me.
The last few years have been difficult for our community. I believe this report will allow us to have a complete picture of what happened at Carolina and build on the numerous reforms we have already put in place.
I understand that many of you have questions, and I hope that many will be answered on Wednesday. We will continue to keep you informed as we move forward.
Thank you for your support.
